Cadherineja is a proposed cadherin-like transmembrane protein described in speculative and fictional discussions of cell–cell adhesion. The term is not tied to a confirmed gene or protein in established public databases, and its existence remains unproven in mainstream biological literature. In these contexts, cadherineja is used as a reference model to explore how calcium-dependent adhesion could operate in epithelial and other tissues.

In structural terms, cadherineja is described as having features typical of classical cadherins: multiple extracellular cadherin repeats that mediate calcium-dependent binding, a single-pass transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic tail capable of interacting with catenins. Through these interactions, cadherineja is posited to anchor to the actin cytoskeleton and participate in adherens junctions, contributing to tissue organization, boundary formation, and during development to morphogenetic movements.
