The modern jeans, developed in the United States in the 19th century, are among the best‑known bukser.

Materials and styles vary. Bukser are made in cotton, denim, wool, linen, and synthetic blends. Common styles include dress trousers, chinos, denim jeans, cargo pants, and athletic joggers. Typical features include pockets, waistband, belt loops, fly closures, and various fits such as straight, tapered, or wide‑leg.
