Boxbilar, or box vans, are a category of light commercial vehicles characterized by a separate, box-shaped cargo area mounted on a chassis, distinct from the cab. The cargo box is typically a rigid, rectangular body with flat sides and a flat roof. Many boxbilar offer insulation and climate control for temperature-sensitive goods, and some are refrigerated for cold-chain transport.

They are designed for the transport and distribution of goods in urban and regional settings. Boxbilar are commonly used by parcel services, furniture stores, moving companies, and service technicians who carry tools and parts. Loading is usually at the rear, via double doors or a roll-up door, and some vehicles provide a side door or a low-loading ramp for easier access.

Construction and configurations vary by size. Small boxbilar are often built on van chassis (for example, models similar to the Mercedes Sprinter or Ford Transit), with a gross vehicle weight up to about 3.5 tonnes. Larger models may be based on light-truck chassis and provide higher payload capacities. The cargo box is designed to withstand daily use, with features such as a durable floor suitable for pallets and cargo securement points.

Regulatory requirements depend on the country. In many places, a category B drivers license covers vehicles with a gross vehicle weight up to 3.5 tonnes; heavier boxbilar require a higher-class license (such as category C). Vehicle registration, safety equipment, and weight limits apply, and requirements may differ for refrigerated or insulated units.
