Bitumihuopa, often translated as bitumen felt or asphalt felt, is a roofing and waterproofing material. It is typically manufactured from a base material, such as polyester or glass fiber, which is then saturated and coated with bitumen. Bitumen is a viscous, black, and sticky petroleum byproduct that provides excellent waterproofing properties.

The manufacturing process involves impregnating the base felt with hot bitumen, followed by applying a surface coating. This coating often includes mineral granules to protect the bitumen from UV radiation and to provide a decorative finish.
