Biomimetyczne (from the Polish noun biomimetyka) describes approaches, technologies, or designs that emulate principles, strategies, or structures found in nature. The concept, also known in English as biomimetics or biophilic design, emerged in the 1970s as scientists and engineers sought sustainable solutions inspired by biological systems.

The term derives from the Greek words biom, meaning "life," and mimet, meaning "imitate." Biomimetic research investigates biological processes such as photosynthesis, flocking behavior, or gecko adhesion, translating the underlying mechanisms into engineering, materials science, architecture, and medical devices. Examples include Velcro, inspired by burrs; self-cleaning surfaces modeled on lotus leaves; and aerodynamic designs of bird wings applied to aircraft and wind turbines.

Polish research institutions, notably the Polish Academy of Sciences and several universities, have active biomimetic labs focusing on biomathematics, bio-inspired robotics, and green construction. International organizations, such as the Biomimicry Institute, provide frameworks for systematically integrating nature's solutions into human-made systems.

The biomimetic approach is valued for promoting energy efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and fostering innovation. Critics note challenges in scaling laboratory prototypes and ensuring commercial viability. Nonetheless, biomimetic developments continue to influence diverse fields, offering new perspectives on sustainable design and problem solving.
