Benmärgsrespons, also known as the bone marrow response, refers to the physiological reaction of the bone marrow to various stimuli, including infections, inflammation, or other pathological conditions. The bone marrow is the spongy tissue found within bones, responsible for producing blood cells through a process called hematopoiesis. When the body encounters stress, such as an infection or injury, the bone marrow undergoes changes to meet increased demands for immune cells and other blood components.

During an active immune response, the bone marrow may increase production of white blood cells, particularly neutrophils, which are critical for fighting bacterial infections. Diagnosis often involves imaging techniques such as MRI or CT scans, as well as blood tests to monitor cell counts and inflammatory markers. Treatment focuses on addressing the underlying cause, whether it be infection control, immune modulation, or supportive care to restore balance in hematopoiesis.
