Becslésükben is a Hungarian adverbial phrase that indicates a statement is anchored in someone’s estimate or assessment. It is formed from the noun becslés (estimate), the possessive suffix -ük (their), and the inessive suffix -ben (in). The literal meaning is “in their estimation,” i.e., in the frame of their assessment. The expression is typically used to introduce or attribute a claim to a particular group’s judgement.

In usage, becslésükben appears mainly in formal or analytical prose, such as academic, statistical, or journalistic writing. It serves to attribute the following content to the referenced group’s estimation rather than to absolute fact. The phrase can be contrasted with becslésük szerint (according to their estimate), where -szerint more directly marks the source of the judgment. Becslésükben emphasizes the standpoint from which the estimation is made, whereas szerinte foregrounds the conclusion itself.

Becslésükben is suitable when describing expectations, forecasts, or assessments that belong to a certain cohort (for example researchers, analysts, or decision-makers). It is not commonly used in casual speech, where simpler constructions such as szerint or az ő becslésük might be preferred.
