A bageplade, often translated as baking sheet or cookie sheet, is a flat, rectangular metal pan used in ovens for baking. Typically made of aluminum, steel, or sometimes non-stick coated materials, bageplader are a fundamental piece of kitchenware for both home cooks and professional bakers. Their primary function is to provide a stable and even surface for food to bake on, allowing heat to circulate effectively.

Bageplader come in various sizes, but a standard European oven usually accommodates a specific size to ensure efficient use of space. They are commonly used for baking cookies, pastries, cakes, breads, and roasted vegetables. The flat surface prevents smaller items from falling through oven racks, and they are also useful for catching drips from pies or other baked goods. Many bageplader feature raised edges, known as a rim, which helps to contain any liquids or dough that might spread during baking. These rims also provide a handle-like feature for safely removing the hot pan from the oven.

Cleaning a bageplade can be done with hot soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge. For stubborn burnt-on food, specialized oven cleaner or soaking may be necessary. Some bageplader are also dishwasher safe, though handwashing is often recommended to prolong their lifespan and maintain their non-stick properties if applicable. Parchment paper or silicone baking mats are frequently used on top of a bageplade to prevent sticking and further simplify cleanup.
