Autenttiset is the plural form of the Finnish adjective autenttinen, meaning authentic or genuine. It describes items, statements, or sources that correspond to their claimed origin or original form, rather than counterfeit or fabricated versions. The term is common in academic writing, journalism, museums, archaeology, and media literacy, where credibility and provenance are important. Examples include autenttiset lähteet (authentic sources), autenttiset dokumentit (genuine documents), and autenttiset artefaktit (original artifacts).

Autenttinen derives from Latin authenticus; Finnish borrowed and adapted it, forming autenttinen with typical inflection and orthography. Autenttiset stresses plurality and agreement with the noun it modifies. The concept is context-dependent: something may be authentic in one aspect (origin) yet not in another (condition or age). In practice, authenticity is established through provenance, documentation, metadata, or cryptographic verification in digital contexts.

Because authenticity can be contested, the use of autenttiset should be precise, avoiding overgeneralization.
