Arrendante, derived from the Spanish verb arrendar, refers to the party that provides property or goods for use under an arrangement of lease or rental. In Spanish‑speaking jurisdictions the term is most commonly applied to real property, but its use extends to vehicles, equipment, and other movable assets. The arrendante is the counterpart to the arrendatario, who is the borrower or lessee.

Under typical lease contracts, the arrendante retains ownership of the asset while granting the arrendatario the right to use it for a specified period in exchange for periodic payments. The responsibilities of the arrendante usually include delivering the asset in good condition, maintaining structural integrity, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and handling tax matters related to the rental income. The arrendatario, conversely, must pay the agreed fees, maintain the asset during use, and return it in the condition agreed upon in the contract.

In civil law systems such as those in Spain, Mexico, and much of Latin America, leases are governed by the respective civil codes. The arrendante must observe statutory limits on rent increases, notice periods for termination, and rights of the tenant in cases of eviction. In some countries, the arrendante may offer additional services such as maintenance or insurance coverage, especially in commercial leases.

The term has parallels in other languages, such as "lessor" in English and "locador" in Portuguese. Legal terminology may vary across jurisdictions, but the core concept—a party that provides the right to use an asset in exchange for consideration—remains consistent.
