Antistatika refers to the properties, materials, and practices used to prevent or reduce the buildup of electrostatic charge on surfaces and objects. It is relevant in electronics manufacturing, packaging, textiles, cleanrooms, and other environments where static electricity can attract dust, cause damage to sensitive components, or present a shock hazard. The term covers intrinsically antistatic materials, conductive or dissipative coatings, additives, and handling methods designed to control charge generation and discharge.

Static electricity is generated by contact and separation, friction, and environmental conditions. Antistatika works by reducing triboelectric charging, increasing charge dissipation, or providing a controlled path to ground. Materials are commonly described by their resistivity or surface resistivity: conductive materials allow rapid discharge, while dissipative materials slow discharge to prevent damaging shocks. In practice, many products are formulated to be dissipative, meeting industry guidelines for surface or volume resistances. Grounding and humidity control are key components of effective antistatika programs.

Typical products and applications include anti-static bags, mats, wrist straps, gloves, and coatings on tools or work surfaces; antistatic clothing and textiles; and anti-static packaging materials used for electronics, printed circuit boards, and other sensitive components.

Standards and testing: ESD control programs are outlined by international standards such as IEC 61340-5-1, which specify requirements for materials, equipment, and practices, including testing methods for surface resistivity, charge decay, and grounding integrity. Compliance is verified through audits and periodic testing.

Limitations: The effectiveness of antistatika depends on conditions such as humidity and cleanliness; some agents can leave residues or affect other properties; wear and contamination can degrade performance. Regular inspection, cleaning, and proper grounding are necessary to maintain protection.
