Techniques such as vacuum distillation, reverse osmosis or other membrane filtration are used to extract or reduce alcohol content. Health and nutrition considerations vary. Alcohol-free beverages can still contain calories, sugars or carbohydrates, and they are not inherently healthier than their alcoholic counterparts. Trace amounts of alcohol may be present, depending on the product and local regulations.
