Supercapacitors, also known as electric double-layer capacitors, store energy through the separation of electric charges at the interface between an electrode and an electrolyte. They offer high power density and are used in applications requiring rapid charge and discharge cycles, such as regenerative braking systems in electric vehicles.

Advances in akkuteknologiaan aim to improve battery performance, including energy density, power density, cycle life, and safety. Researchers are exploring new materials, such as solid-state electrolytes and high-capacity anodes, to enhance battery efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
