Ajooikeuksia is the Finnish term referring to the legal right to operate motor vehicles on public roads. In practice, ajooikeudet are granted through obtaining a driving licence (ajokortti), which entitles the holder to drive specific categories of vehicles defined by EU standards, such as AM, A1, A2, A, B, BE, C, CE, D and their combinations. Each category specifies which vehicle types and, in some cases, weight or power limits the holder may operate. A licence may cover several categories, and additional categories require separate tests and training.
