The concept is widely explored in science fiction, fantasy, and philosophical discussions, often examining the implications of altering past or future events.

In literature and media, time travel typically involves advanced technology, supernatural powers, or unique circumstances that allow characters to move between different temporal periods. Common themes include paradoxes, such as the butterfly effect, where small changes in the past lead to significant consequences in the present or future. Some narratives also explore ethical dilemmas, such as whether altering history is morally justifiable or if time travel inherently disrupts the natural order of events.
