Agroindustry, also called agribusiness, refers to the range of activities that transform raw agricultural materials into food, fiber, fuel, and other marketable products, and the supporting services required to bring these products to consumers. It encompasses input manufacture (seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and farm machinery), farming, primary processing (such as milling, canning, drying, and fermentation), food and feed production, packaging, storage, distribution, and retail or export. It also includes agro-based value chains that extend into textiles, bioenergy, and industrial products derived from agricultural feedstocks.
