Adhäsionsprofil, in English often referred to as adhesion profile, is a concept used in the fields of materials science and surface engineering. It denotes the spatial distribution of adhesive strength along a bonded interface, describing how strongly two materials adhere to each other at different points along the joint.

Such profiles are obtained by mapping local adhesion forces using specialized tests that provide spatial resolution. Examples include peel or pull-off tests performed stepwise along the bond line, or high-resolution force mapping techniques, such as force spectroscopy or micro-sensor arrays. The resulting data can be plotted as a curve s(x) of adhesion strength versus position, or visualized as a color or contour map showing regional variations.

Adhesion profiles are influenced by many factors, including surface energy and cleanliness, roughness, contamination, moisture, temperature, and the chemical compatibility of adhesive and substrate. The curing or setting conditions of the adhesive material, as well as substrate coatings, also play a significant role.

Applications include quality control in manufacturing of bonded assemblies, failure analysis, and research and development of new adhesives and surface treatments. By identifying weak zones, engineers can tailor surface preparation, choose different adhesive formulations, or modify joint geometry to achieve more uniform adhesion.
