Aanraakinput refers to the process by which a tactile input device detects user touch and translates that into digital signals. It is the Dutch term for touch input and encompasses a variety of technologies used in modern electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, smart watches, and interactive displays.

The fundamental principle of aanraakinput is force or proximity detection on a surface. Early implementations were simple resistive touchscreens that used two layers of conductive material separated by a small gap. When a finger pressed through the gap, the layers made contact and the electrical resistance could be measured to determine the touch coordinate.
