Ziplockförslutning

Ziplockförslutning, often referred to as a resealable closure or press-to-close zipper, is a type of plastic bag closure that allows the bag to be opened and resealed multiple times. It consists of two interlocking plastic strips that run along the opening of the bag. One strip typically has a male profile, while the other has a female profile. When pressed together, these profiles snap into place, creating a watertight and airtight seal.

The design of the ziplockförslutning is attributed to Thomas J. Hagan of the original Dow Chemical Company in the 1950s, though its widespread commercialization and adoption occurred later. The mechanism relies on the flexibility of the plastic and the precise molding of the interlocking ridges and grooves. To open the bag, the user separates the two strips by pulling them apart. To reseal it, they simply align the strips and press them together until the characteristic clicking sound or feeling of engagement is achieved.

Ziplockförslutningar are commonly found on a variety of plastic packaging, including food storage bags, freezer bags, snack bags, and even some types of industrial packaging. Their primary advantage is convenience, allowing consumers to preserve the freshness of contents and prevent spills or leakage.
