Zinknickelbeläggning refers to a type of electroplated coating composed of a zinc-nickel alloy. This coating is applied to metal surfaces, most commonly steel, to provide enhanced corrosion resistance. The alloy typically consists of a specific percentage of nickel, usually between 10% and 15%, which significantly improves upon the protective properties of pure zinc plating.

The process involves immersing the component to be coated into an electrolytic bath containing zinc and nickel ions. An electric current is then passed through the bath, causing the zinc and nickel to deposit uniformly onto the surface of the component. The resulting coating forms a barrier that protects the underlying metal from oxidation and other corrosive agents.

Zinknickelbeläggning offers several advantages over traditional zinc plating, including superior salt spray test performance, meaning it can withstand much longer exposure to salt environments before showing signs of rust. It also provides better adhesion and can be applied in a thinner layer for equivalent protection. Furthermore, the alloyed nature of the coating can offer a more aesthetically pleasing, uniform finish, often with a silvery-gray appearance. This type of coating is frequently used in automotive components, fasteners, and other industrial applications where durability and corrosion protection are critical.
