Zielniveau

Zielniveau is a term used in German-speaking contexts to denote a target level of knowledge, skills, or performance that a person, course, or program aims to achieve within a defined period. It serves as a reference point for planning, instruction, and assessment and is typically framed against an established standard or scale.

In education and vocational training, the Zielniveau describes the expected outcomes students or trainees should demonstrate at the end of a unit or course. It is often linked to curricula, competency models, or proficiency scales, and is typically contrasted with Ist-Niveau (actual performance) to identify gaps and guide remediation.

Measuring a Zielniveau requires observable and verifiable criteria, such as rubrics, performance indicators, or standardized tests. By defining concrete behavioral or product-based indicators, educators and employers can assess progress, plan instruction, and determine eligibility for advancement, certification, or graduation.
