Zhejiang

Zhejiang is a coastal province in eastern China, bordered by Shanghai to the north, Jiangsu to the northeast, Anhui to the west, Jiangxi to the southwest, with the East China Sea to the southeast. The capital is Hangzhou; other major cities include Ningbo, Wenzhou, Jiaxing, Shaoxing, Taizhou, Jinhua, Huzhou, Quzhou, Lishui, and Zhoushan.

The province is part of the Yangtze River Delta economic region and has a highly developed economy focused on manufacturing, services, and technology. It is known for private enterprise and is home to major companies such as Alibaba in Hangzhou and Geely in Wenzhou and Taizhou. The Ningbo-Zhoushan Port is among the world's busiest.

Geography includes inland mountains and a long coastline; the Qiantang River and Hangzhou's West Lake are notable features. Zhejiang is well connected by high-speed rail and road and maintains integrated transport with Shanghai and other coastal cities.

Historically, Zhejiang has been an important cultural and commercial region since ancient times. Hangzhou served as the southern capital during the Southern Song Dynasty. The region is famous for Longjing tea, Huzhou silk, and Yue opera.

Zhejiang cuisine, or Zhe cuisine, emphasizes fresh, delicate flavors; Dongpo pork is a well-known dish. The province hosts leading educational institutions such as Zhejiang University. The population is around 60 million.
