Jiangsu is a coastal province in eastern China, located in the Yangtze River Delta. It is bordered by Shandong to the north, Anhui to the west, Zhejiang to the south, and the East China Sea to the east. The provincial capital is Nanjing, a city with centuries of political and cultural significance. Other major cities include Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, Yangzhou, Nantong, Zhenjiang, and Xuzhou. The Yangtze River traverses the province and the Grand Canal historic waterway links regional economies; ferries and inland waterways remain important for transport and irrigation.
