Zbardhues is a term originating from the Albanian language, commonly used to refer to a bleaching agent or a whitening substance. It is derived from the verb "zbardh," meaning to whiten or to bleach. The suffix "-ues" often indicates something that causes or performs an action, thus "zbardhues" literally translates to something that causes whitening.

In everyday Albanian usage, zbardhues most frequently denotes laundry bleach, the chemical compound used to remove stains and brighten fabrics. This can include chlorine-based bleaches like sodium hypochlorite or oxygen-based bleaches such as hydrogen peroxide.
