Zavaros is a fictional character from the *Final Fantasy* series, created by Hironobu Sakaguchi and developed by Square Enix (formerly Square). Introduced in *Final Fantasy VI* (1994), he is a key figure in the game’s narrative and one of its most iconic characters.

Zavaros is a powerful sorcerer and the leader of the Espers, mystical beings that grant magical abilities to humans. Initially portrayed as a benevolent figure, he is later revealed to be a manipulative and vengeful antagonist. His backstory involves a tragic past, including the death of his wife and the corruption of his own body by dark magic. This corruption leads him to seek revenge against the world, particularly the characters of *Final Fantasy VI*, whom he blames for his suffering.

Zavaros possesses immense magical prowess, wielding powerful spells such as *Meteor* and *Terra*, which can devastate entire armies. His design is distinctive, featuring a long, flowing white robe, a hooded cape, and a gaunt, skeletal appearance that reflects his corrupted state. His voice actor in the original Japanese version was Junko Hori, while in the English version, he was voiced by Michael Bell.
