Zaimokuza

Zaimokuza is a district within the city of Kamakura in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It is situated on the southern coast of Kamakura, bordering the Pacific Ocean. Historically, Zaimokuza was a significant port and shipbuilding center during the Kamakura period, hence its name which translates to "timber port." The area was crucial for supplying lumber and building materials for the shogunate.

Today, Zaimokuza is primarily known for its popular beach, Zaimokuza Beach, which is a popular destination for swimming, sunbathing, and various water sports during the summer months. The coastline is characterized by a long stretch of sand and a relatively calm sea, making it suitable for families. Behind the beach, the area is a mix of residential housing and small businesses, including restaurants and shops catering to beachgoers. While its historical maritime importance has diminished, Zaimokuza retains a coastal charm and remains a key recreational area within Kamakura.
