Zündsteuerungen, also known as ignition control systems, are critical components in internal combustion engines. Their primary function is to precisely control the timing of the spark plug ignition in gasoline engines or the injection timing in diesel engines. Early ignition systems were mechanical, relying on a distributor and points to interrupt the current to the ignition coil at the correct moment. While simple, these systems were susceptible to wear and tear and offered limited precision. The advent of electronic ignition systems marked a significant advancement. These systems use sensors to monitor engine parameters such as engine speed, crankshaft position, and throttle position.
