Yönäköteknologia refers to technologies that enable vision in low-light or complete darkness conditions. This can be achieved through several different principles, broadly categorized as image enhancement and image conversion.

Image enhancement technologies amplify existing light, making it visible to the human eye. This is typically done using devices that capture even faint ambient light, such as starlight or moonlight, and electronically intensify it. These devices often utilize image intensifier tubes, which convert incoming photons into electrons, amplify these electrons, and then convert them back into photons to create a brighter image. This is the principle behind traditional night vision goggles.

Image conversion technologies, on the other hand, detect heat signatures rather than visible light. These are known as thermal imaging or infrared cameras. They work by sensing the infrared radiation emitted by objects, which is related to their temperature. Warmer objects emit more infrared radiation and appear brighter in the resulting thermal image. This technology is not dependent on ambient light and can see through smoke, fog, and darkness.

Both image enhancement and image conversion technologies have wide-ranging applications, including military and security operations, wildlife observation, search and rescue, and automotive safety systems.
