Yskähtely

Yskähtely refers to a brief, involuntary expulsion of air from the lungs, often accompanied by a sound. It is a common reflex that serves to clear the airways of irritants or excess mucus. While often unnoticed, a single yskähtely can be a sign of something as simple as a tickle in the throat or as indicative of an underlying condition.

The causes of yskähtely are diverse. It can be triggered by environmental factors such as dust, smoke, or strong perfumes. Allergens like pollen or pet dander can also provoke this reflex. In some cases, yskähtely might be a symptom of a minor illness, such as a mild cold or the onset of a sore throat, where the body is attempting to expel pathogens or clear inflammation.
