Yielpunt

Yielpunt is a term that does not correspond to a widely recognized concept in standard reference works. In many cases it appears as a misspelling or anglicization of yield point, most commonly in discussions of materials science, or as a typographical variant in informal texts dealing with economics or engineering.

In materials science, the yield point is the stress level at which a material ceases to behave elastically and begins to deform plastically. The distinction between an upper yield point and a lower yield point exists for some metals, notably certain steels, copper, and aluminum alloys, reflecting a temporary drop in stress after yielding begins. The material’s yield strength is the corresponding stress value used in design and analysis. Engineers aim to keep operating stresses below the yield strength to avoid permanent deformation. Yield points are typically determined in standardized tensile tests that produce a stress–strain curve from which the yield points are read.

In finance and economics, yield denotes the return on an investment, expressed as a percentage. The term "yield point" is not a formal standard and, when used, generally refers informally to a threshold where yields on assets begin to rise or where the risk–return profile changes. For precise analysis, terms such as yield to maturity, current yield, or dividend yield are used instead.
