The Xarvalians were a fictional humanoid species featured in the *Warhammer 40,000* tabletop science fiction game and its associated lore. Originating from the planet Xarval in the Segmentum Obscurus, they were a once-proud civilization known for their advanced technology, particularly in the fields of bioengineering and cybernetics. Their society was structured around a rigid caste system, with the elite ruling class known as the *Xarvalian Nobles* overseeing the lower castes, including laborers and soldiers.

Xarvalians were physically distinct, standing taller than average humans with elongated limbs and a slightly elongated skull. Their skin was often described as pale or ashen, and they possessed a natural resistance to radiation, which contributed to their early technological dominance. Their culture placed a high value on discipline, honor, and the preservation of genetic purity, leading to strict eugenics practices.

The Xarvalians were initially allies of the Imperium of Man, contributing forces to the Great Crusade under Emperor Roboute Guilliman. However, their society began to decline due to internal strife, corruption, and the encroachment of the Warp’s influence. By the time of the Horus Heresy, many Xarvalian systems had fallen to heretical factions, including the Warmaster Horus and the Chaos Gods. The remnants of their civilization were later absorbed or destroyed by the Imperium, with their last major stronghold, the *Xarvalian Spire*, being razed during the 41st Millennium.

Xarvalians were also notable for their use of specialized troops, such as the *Xarvalian Shock Troops*, heavily armored soldiers equipped with plasma weapons and energy shields. Their legacy endures in the Imperium’s military archives, serving as a cautionary tale of how even advanced civilizations can succumb to decay and heresy.
