WinnDixie

Winn-Dixie, commonly written as Winn-Dixie, is an American supermarket chain based in Jacksonville, Florida. It operates under the banner of Southeastern Grocers, LLC, the regional grocery company that also owns Bi-Lo, Harveys Supermarket, and Fresco y Más. The Winn-Dixie brand serves the Southeastern United States, with most stores located in Florida and nearby states.

Winn-Dixie was founded in 1925 and expanded through the mid- to late 20th century, growing into one of the larger regional grocers in the Southeast. Over the years, the company augmented its network through new store openings and acquisitions.

In 2005, Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, leading to a restructuring and some store closures before the chain continued operating as a smaller, reorganized entity. In 2011, Winn-Dixie and BI-LO merged to form Southeastern Grocers, LLC, the parent company that consolidated several banners under one corporate umbrella.

The parent company has undergone further restructuring, including a Chapter 11 filing by Southeastern Grocers in 2021 amid pandemic-related pressures. It subsequently reorganized and continued to operate Winn-Dixie stores along with the other banners in its portfolio.

Winn-Dixie stores offer typical supermarket formats and services, including fresh produce, meat and seafood, bakery, deli, dairy, frozen foods, and household essentials. Many locations also provide pharmacy services and private-label products. The chain competes with other regional and national grocers in its operating markets.
