Wilane

Wilane is a village and civil parish in the fictional county of Northcrest, in the country of Eldoria. It had an estimated population of about 1,200 people as of 2021. The parish encompasses the village core and surrounding farmland, and sits on the banks of the River Lorne.

Geographically, Wilane lies on gently rolling countryside with hedgerow fields and mixed woodland. The settlement centers on a historic church and a small market square. The name Wilane is believed to derive from Old English elements meaning “willow” and “land,” though the exact etymology is uncertain.

Wilane is first documented in medieval records dating to 1285, when the manor was held by the de Wyl family. The parish church of St. Mary the Virgin was built in the 15th century and has long been the focal point of village life. The annual Wilane Harvest Festival in September brings together farmers, crafters, and residents. Administratively, Wilane is part of the Northcrest Rural District and elects representatives to the district council. The village is linked by a regional road; the nearest railway station lies in Eastport, about 7 miles away, with bus connections to surrounding towns.
