Wieskirche
The Wieskirche, officially known as the Pilgrimage Church of Wies, is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in the municipality of Steingaden in Bavaria, Germany. It is a masterpiece of Bavarian Rococo architecture and a significant pilgrimage destination. The church's construction began in 1745 and was completed in 1754, designed by the brothers Dominikus and Johann Baptist Zimmermann. The Zimmermanns were renowned artists of their time, with Dominikus being an architect and stucco worker, and Johann Baptist a painter.
The church's fame stems from a miraculous wooden statue of Christ Scourged, brought to Wies in 1738.
