West Asia, also known as Western Asia, is a geographic and cultural region on the western portion of the Asian continent. Boundaries vary by source, but it typically includes the Middle East and the Caucasus, with common members such as Turkey, Cyprus, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Yemen, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia.

It is geographically diverse, with deserts (the Arabian and Syrian deserts), mountain ranges (Zagros, Taurus, Caucasus), and extensive coastlines along the Mediterranean, Black Sea, and Persian Gulf. Climate ranges from arid and semi-arid to Mediterranean and highland in the mountains.

West Asia is home to numerous ethnic groups and languages. Widely spoken languages include Arabic, Persian (Farsi), Turkish, Kurdish, Armenian, Azerbaijani, and Hebrew. The region is religiously diverse, with Islam (Sunni and Shia) as the largest faith, alongside Christian and Jewish communities.

Historically, the region contains ancient civilizations such as Mesopotamia and has been at the center of empires, trade routes, and cultural exchange. It has made lasting contributions to science, mathematics, literature, and religious traditions.

Economically, West Asia is rich in energy resources, particularly oil and natural gas, and includes major hubs in Turkey, Israel, the Gulf states, and Iran. Politically, it remains geopolitically salient, with ongoing conflicts, interstate rivalries, and regional organizations such as the GCC and the Arab League.
