Värvimõõtmete is a term used in color science and art to describe the fundamental characteristics used to define and distinguish different colors. There are three primary dimensions typically considered: hue, saturation, and lightness.

Hue refers to the pure color itself, such as red, blue, or green. It is what we commonly associate with the name of a color. Hue is often represented on a color wheel, where complementary colors are opposite each other.

Saturation, also known as chroma, describes the intensity or purity of a hue. A highly saturated color is vivid and strong, while a desaturated color appears duller, more muted, or closer to gray. Increasing saturation makes a color appear more vibrant, while decreasing it makes it appear more washed out.

Lightness, or brightness, refers to how light or dark a color appears. This dimension ranges from pure black through various shades of gray to pure white. A color with high lightness is perceived as bright, while a color with low lightness is perceived as dark. These three dimensions, hue, saturation, and lightness, work together to create the vast spectrum of colors we can perceive.
