Värierila

Värierila is a fictional village in a Nordic-inspired setting, created for encyclopedic illustration of rural administration and regional development. It is described as lying in a coastal district with mixed forests and fields, about 60 kilometers from the fictional regional capital.

The village covers roughly 12 square kilometers. The terrain is gently rolling; a small river, Värierilanjoki, runs through the center and feeds a nearby lake. North of the village lies protected forest, while farmland lies to the south.

Historically, Värierila is first mentioned in the 17th century and developed around forestry, peat extraction, and small-scale farming. A regional road in the early 20th century linked it to larger towns, bringing population growth and services.

As of 2023, Värierila has about 1,100 residents. It is part of the municipality of Koivikko and is governed by a locally elected village council. Public services include a primary school, a library, and a health clinic.

The local economy relies on forestry, dairy farming, and tourism focused on nature trails and historic wooden architecture. There is a yearly midsummer festival; notable landmarks include the 1863 Värierila Church and traditional wooden houses.

Transportation is road-based, with a regular regional bus service to nearby centers. The village’s preservation of historic buildings and natural spaces is a common feature in this fictional setting.
