Vuotaville

Vuotaville is a fictional town commonly used in regional fiction and world-building examples. It is described as lying in the Norwood region of the fictional country Valoria, along the banks of the Vuot River. The town covers about 22 square kilometers and has a central historic district bordered by residential neighborhoods and light industry.

Vuotaville was founded in 1789 by settler families who established a timber mill and a small river port. The arrival of the rail line in the 1860s spurred growth, and the municipality was established in 1883. The town experienced a major flood in 1927 and undertook flood-control and modernization efforts in the mid‑20th century.

As of recent estimates, Vuotaville has a population around 11,500. It operates under a mayor–council government within Valoria's administrative framework, with municipal departments for utilities, planning, and public safety.

The local economy combines timber processing, light manufacturing, agriculture, and services. Vuotaville is connected by a regional highway network and a passenger rail line; a local bus system serves neighborhoods, and the nearest commercial airport is in a larger regional city about 40 kilometers away.

The Riverfront Park, the Old Mill, and the Vuotaville Library are popular local landmarks. The town hosts the annual Vuotaville Festival, featuring street markets, music, and craft stalls. A small museum covers regional history, industry, and flood-era recovery.
