For tenants, vuokraoikeudet typically include the right to a habitable and safe dwelling, the right to private enjoyment of the rented space, and protection against unlawful entry. Tenants have the obligation to pay the agreed rent on time, maintain the premises reasonably, and comply with the terms of the lease. They may have the right to sublet or assign the lease with the landlord’s consent under certain conditions. For landlords, vuokraoikeudet include the right to receive rent as agreed, to require the tenant to adhere to the lease terms, and to enter the property under legally defined circumstances (often with notice). Landlords are obligated to ensure the property is maintained in a reasonable condition and to perform essential repairs. They may terminate a lease for valid reasons in accordance with statutory notice periods and procedures, and they can pursue remedies for non-payment or lease violations through appropriate dispute resolution channels.
