Vollwaschmittel

Vollwaschmittel, literally translating to "full detergent" in German, is a type of laundry detergent designed for all-around cleaning of white and light-colored textiles. It typically contains a combination of active ingredients that address a wide range of laundry needs.

Key components often found in Vollwaschmittel include surfactants for stain removal, enzymes to break down specific types of dirt like protein and starch, and optical brighteners that make whites appear whiter and colors brighter. Bleaching agents are also a common ingredient, enabling Vollwaschmittel to tackle tough stains and disinfect fabrics, particularly at higher washing temperatures.

Due to the presence of bleaching agents and optical brighteners, Vollwaschmittel is generally not recommended for colored or dark laundry as it can cause fading or discoloration. For these types of fabrics, specialized detergents like Colorwaschmittel (color detergent) or Feinwaschmittel (delicate detergent) are preferred. Vollwaschmittel is typically available in powder, liquid, and tablet forms, each offering slightly different application characteristics. The effectiveness of Vollwaschmittel is often enhanced by washing at higher temperatures, typically 40°C and above, which activates the enzymes and bleaching agents more efficiently.
