Vlerat

Vlerat is the Albanian term for values, referring to the principles or standards that individuals or societies regard as important and worth pursuing. The root vlerë means value or worth, and vlerat denotes the plural form, encompassing moral, cultural, and social norms that guide behavior and judgments. In philosophy and social sciences, values are understood as concepts that shape preferences, decisions, and conduct, often organized into categories such as moral values (honesty, integrity), social values (justice, equality), and personal values (responsibility, ambition).

In Albanian culture and discourse, values are commonly linked to family, community, and civic life. Hospitality, respect for elders, loyalty to kin, mutual aid, and hard work are frequently cited as valued traits, while education and lifelong learning are seen as pathways to personal development and societal well-being.
