Visbreakers

Visbreakers are a type of specialized tool used in the oil and gas industry, primarily for drilling operations. Their function is to reduce the viscosity of drilling fluids, which are essential for effective and efficient drilling. Drilling fluids, also known as muds, serve multiple critical roles including lubricating and cooling the drill bit, carrying rock cuttings to the surface, and stabilizing the wellbore.

The viscosity of drilling fluids can become excessively high due to various factors, such as the presence of clay particles or chemical interactions.
