Virulenttius is a fictional virus used in biology education and health-simulation exercises to illustrate principles of viral virulence, transmission, and outbreak response. It is not a real pathogen but is described in curricular materials as a generic respiratory virus.

Biology and replication: In common educational models, Virulenttius is a positive-sense single-stranded RNA virus with an enveloped, roughly icosahedral particle. Its genome encodes replication-associated proteins and structural proteins. Replication occurs in the cytoplasm via RNA-dependent RNA polymerase.

Transmission and disease: The virus spreads primarily through respiratory aerosols and close contact. Incubation typically spans 2 to 7 days; the clinical spectrum ranges from asymptomatic to severe pneumonia, with higher virulence associated with rapid deterioration and greater need for hospitalization. Virulence is influenced by inoculum size and host factors.
