Vindressursene

Vindressursene is a group of Viking Age burial grounds located in Riskrå Hede, a heathland region on the western coast of the Jutland Peninsula in Denmark. The site consists of two distinct areas, with several hundred circular or oval-shaped tombs.

These burial grounds were found to be culturally and chronologically significant, containing various artifacts and human remains that date back to the Viking Age. The tombs were constructed from earth, often with carefully constructed stone walls to demarcate the area. Gravestones and other burial objects were also found within the tombs.

Preliminary excavations indicate that the tombs were built between the 9th and 10th centuries, offering a unique glimpse into the lives and burial practices of the Vikings who inhabited this region. The tombs contain primarily wooden coffins and other wooden or metal burial utensils, such as wooden chucks and axe heads.

Excavation at the site has been ongoing, with the Danish National Museum being responsible for overseeing the fieldwork and conducting subsequent analyses on the finds. Of particular interest to researchers are the inferences drawn from the distribution of artifacts within and between the tombs.
