VierendeelHalle
The VierendeelHalle, also known as the Vierendeel truss hall, is a type of architectural structure distinguished by its use of Vierendeel trusses to span large open spaces. Unlike traditional triangular trusses, Vierendeel trusses are composed of rectangular or polygonal frames, typically formed by vertical members connected by horizontal beams. This design allows for the creation of unobstructed interiors, making it ideal for structures such as exhibition halls, hangars, and industrial buildings where flexibility in layout is crucial.
The Vierendeel truss was invented by the Belgian engineer Jules Arthur Vierendeel in the late 19th century.
