Vermicompostáló refers to a worm composting system, a method of recycling organic waste into a nutrient-rich soil amendment called vermicompost. These systems typically involve a container, bedding material, and a specific type of earthworm, most commonly Eisenia fetida (red wigglers). The worms consume the organic matter, breaking it down through their digestive processes and excreting it as vermicastings.

The process is relatively simple. Organic scraps such as fruit and vegetable peels, coffee grounds, tea bags, and shredded paper are added to the bedding. The worms then feed on this material. The moisture level and aeration within the bin are important for maintaining a healthy worm population.
