Verkkoadapteri, also known as a network adapter or network interface controller (NIC), is a crucial hardware component that enables a computer or other device to connect to a network. It acts as an interface between the device and the network medium, such as Ethernet cables or Wi-Fi signals. The verkkoadapter translates data from the device's internal format into a format that can be transmitted over the network and vice versa.

There are two main types of verkkoadapterit: wired and wireless. On the receiving end, it detects incoming signals, converts them back into data packets, and passes them to the operating system.
