Vektorbegrænsende, often translated as vector limiting or vector clamping, is a concept used in computer graphics and physics simulations to constrain the magnitude of a vector. This technique is employed to prevent vectors from exceeding a predefined maximum length or becoming excessively large, which can lead to undesirable visual artifacts or numerical instability.

In practice, vector limiting involves calculating the magnitude of a given vector. If this magnitude is greater than a specified threshold, the vector is scaled down so that its magnitude becomes equal to the threshold. This ensures that the vector's direction remains unchanged, but its influence or force is capped.

This method finds applications in various fields. For instance, in game development, it can be used to limit the velocity of objects, preventing them from moving too fast and breaking the game's physics. In animation, it can control the displacement of vertices to avoid extreme deformations. In physics engines, vector limiting can be applied to forces or accelerations to maintain stability and prevent unrealistic scenarios.
