Varningssignalen

Varningssignalen, also known as NTM (Nationella Trident Meddelande) or National Event Notification System, is a public warning system used in parts of Sweden. The system sends notifications to mobile devices, social media, and radio and television broadcasts in the event of emergency situations that could affect public health and safety.

Notifications issued by Varningssignalen are either "extremely high" or "high," with the former being used for life-threatening events and the latter for general warnings. The system is primarily used to alert the public to severe weather conditions, natural disasters, civil emergencies, and health-related crises, such as outbreaks of infectious diseases.

The Varningssignalen system is coordinated by a division of the Swedish Security and Defence Agency. The agency receives information from national authorities and emergency services, such as the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency and the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute. The agency then selects events that are deemed significant enough for Varningssignalen notifications.

Varningssignalen allows users to edit their notification options, including which types of warnings they want to receive. Users can also mute notifications for an extended period. Varningssignalen aims to enable citizens to make informed decisions during emergencies and minimize disruption to daily life.
