The VanderMeers are a prominent American literary duo consisting of siblings Thomas and Kelly Link. Thomas VanderMeer was born in 1968 in New York City, while Kelly Link was born in 1969 in Columbus, Ohio. They grew up in the same household and developed a shared interest in literature and storytelling early in life.

Thomas VanderMeer is best known for his work as an editor and anthologist, particularly for his influential series *The New Weird*, which helped define and popularize the genre in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. His edited collections, such as *The New Weird: Stories of the Imagination* (2006), curated works from authors like China Miéville, Jeff VanderMeer (no relation), and others, fostering a movement that expanded the boundaries of speculative fiction. VanderMeer has also written novels, including *Borough of Sailing Ghosts* (2010), a surreal and atmospheric exploration of a decaying coastal town.
